Day in the Life 2017 – Completed

I thought I’d share my completed Day in the Life with you all.  This year I started the day like any other day.  I got up for work, showered, ate breakfast, drove to work.  All normal so far.  But then I receive a phone call that changed the whole outlook of the day.   I ended up spending most of the day in emergency with my daughter.  It’s a long story that I won’t share here but suffice to say that it was a very unusual day.

I did wonder at one point whether I should keep going with it and try again tomorrow as tomorrow would be a ‘typical’ day but then again who really knows what tomorrow may bring.  So far this year life has thrown us some curve balls and today certainly was another day like that so on reflection it was worth continuing as it did show a slice of what this year has been like so far.

I did gloss over a lot of the details and did not get too detailed with my journaling as I didn’t think it the right place to do that.  Plus it’s not totally my story to share.  I had to respect that point.

Anyway, here are the photos of my layouts from 10am onwards.

10am and 11am

 

I’ve been using the app ‘Headspace’ on my iphone. It gives me a daily meditation as well and affirmations. This one popped up today and it seemed extremely relevant to the way the day had panned out. On most pages I used the prompts from Ali’s roller stamp that came in the Day in the Life mini kit.

 

I had been hoarding this swan ephemera from the Chasing Dreams line from Maggie Holmes.

 

I used much of the ephemera kit ‘Live More’ from Pink Fresh Studios.

 

I took advantage of adding extra interest with using this hexagon acetate sheet in the pocket page. I love the peekaboo element here.

 

 

2pm and 3pm

 

I am so in love with this Kerri Bradford traveler pack named ‘Splendid’. It is so fresh and colourful and includes heap of usable elements.

 

4pm and 5pm.

 

On this spread I used mostly papers and die cuts from previous Felicity Jane Kit. I also used a digital stamp from Kellie Stamps. Fun fact: after adhering the ‘Wacky Wednesday’ digital stamp I realised it was only Tuesday! I left it there anyway as it was a pretty wacky day!

Another pocket page this time using gold spotted vellum.

A few final notes.  I used a Pocket Page Notebook which is available from The Stamp Spot.  This is my go to now with all of my memory keeping.  I find the blend of pocket pages and note paper perfect for all my memories.

Week in the Life – Day 3 Completed

Hi all and happy Sunday,

I’ve been working on a few other projects but I getting there with my WITL.

Week in the Life – Day 2 Completed

Hi all,

I have slowly continued to document my WITL.  I’m not in any particular rush as I have all the photos and the journaling done.  All I have to do is cut and paste the words from my blog onto a document and print out.  The trickiest part is deciding what size to print out my photos but once I’m organised that, it’s all ready to start playing with pretty paper.

WITL – Day 1 Completed

As previously mentioned, I will be documenting my Week in the Life for this year in a Pocket Page Notebook from The Stamp Spot.

So here we go.

Sorry for the glare but its really tricky to photograph without getting it.

The documenting or journaling part was easy and I did what Ali does and mostly copies and pastes from her blog.  So, so easy.

I am using Kellie Stamps Digital Large Number Pocket Cards for the beginning of each new day.  I print them to size and slide them into the pocket page.  Most of the paper and elements are from Felicity Jane kits.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a pocket page and I’ve attached the photos to a piece of patterned acetate.  On the reverse side I mirrored the photos with extra embellishments etc.  Again, sorry for the glare.

Week in the Life 2017

I know, I know I told myself I wasn’t going to do WITL this year but then I was listening to Jess Forster’s Pocket Talk Podcast where she was talking to Ali Edwards, Brandi Kincaid and Pam Baldwin and it made me remember I loved doing this project.  I got out my previous albums and just had to do it again.

As I was late to get organised I haven’t got Ali’s WITL kit but just last night made up my own kit using mostly Felicity Jane ‘Jane’ kit from last month which I hadn’t even opened along with a few other bits and pieces I had floating around.

Since I don’t have an album the obvious choice would be my favourite at the moment, Pocket Page Notebook.

Day One

What I thought was going to be a lazy sleep in day was not to be.  Once awake my Lara reminded me that we were going to paint her room today.  Oh, geez, I forgot!  With a sigh I go to the kitchen where Kevin is starting to cook bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast.  Nom, Nom.  I start making the coffee.  Capps for two please.  After that I searching in the back of my drawers for my painting clothes and straight into it we go.

Kevin does what he usually does on the weekend and takes Sasha to the beach for a walk.  That’s their favourite past time.  Declan is still dozing in bed.

Lara’s room had two walls that were a hot pink and two that were a version of ‘white’.  She wanted the whole room to be white.  Fresh and clean, a happy sanctuary for her.

Now she knows how to paint!

Kev comes home but we send him out to get more paint as we had run out.  Thanks Kev!

Kev and Declan spent the, what seemed the whole afternoon, putting up a new blind in Declan’s room.  Lot’s of heated discussions ensued.

I’m not sure whether you can see the frustration on Declan’s face?

Finally finishing the painting, Lara and I start moving her furniture back in along with a double bed that used to be Kath’s (Kev’s mum’s).  We still have a few bit of decor to finish it off but at the moment Lara is happily relaxing in her new sanctuary.

Showered and freshened up it was time for a well deserved glass of white wine.  That was when I discovered I still had paint on myself!!

 

We had an easy dinner tonight with some steak on the BBQ with salad.

PS:  I will show you a Lara’s room once it’s complete.  We are going shopping for decor tomorrow.

 

Pocket Page Notebooks

In this post I thought I’d share some of the different ways I’ve used the pockets in the Pocket Page Notebook from The Stamp Spot.

I divided this pocket page in three, closing of each section using my fuse tool.  I wanted to create a shaker pocket but wanted to contain the banner to the top and not have it floating around.  Nor did I want the stars all falling to the bottom.  I think the embellishments from Felicity Jane’s March kit worked well with the black and white photo.

The next layout is a photo showing off our beautiful river looking towards the city of Perth.  The RHS I had printed the photo of this yummy acai bowl but it didn’t fit the whole pocket so I just stuck some chipboard letters on the outside of the pocket.  I wasn’t phased as to what it looked like on the reverse side, as far as being able to see the back of the letters.

As you can see in the next pic I just stuck a pocket page card to cover the back of the pic and left the back of the letters visible.

In this layout I printed a larger photo using Photoshop and used an Ali Edwards digital stamp and kept it simple.

This time I made an extra large tag to incorporate the photo and embellishments.  No need for journaling here.
